Ubisoft recently announced that they’ll be letting players try out the game for a brief time to help sway prospective buyers over to the crude, unbridled South Park humor that fans of the TV show have come to expect. The trial run for the game does come with a couple of restrictions, but it should still be more than enough time to get a feel for what the game has to offer.
If you choose to take part in the trial, you’ll want to get moving as quickly as you can once you’re inside. The trial version of the game that’s now available on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will only allow for one hour of gameplay, so even though the character building and customizing sometimes takes up quite a bit of time on RPG games like this, you’ll want to make sure you don’t spend your entire trial creating a character.
If you do end up doing that, however, you won’t have to worry about losing your carefully created character once the trial ends. Should you end the trial and decide that you want to go forward with buying the game, your progress will be carried over to the full version, your superhero identity kept safe.
The game certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the signature South Park attitude that you’d expect from a game with an anatomy pun right in the title. It’s abrasive, it borders on going too far with certain components like it’s controversial mini-game, and flatulence is the protagonist’s weapon of choice.
But all of that comes together to make a follow-up to South Park: The Stick of Truth that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is a perfect continuation for South Park fans. In our review of the game, Robert Workman spoke about the progress that’s been made from Stick of Truth:
“But The Fractured But Whole goes the extra mile, playing around with themes, improving on the presentation, adding worthwhile components to the gameplay and just plain having fun with everything. It doesn’t hold back either, which makes it an even more devoted South Park product.”
The trial run of South Park: The Fractured but Whole is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
