Like any creature collector, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is chock-full of new Digimon to add to your team. Once you’ve encountered an enemy Digimon enough times, you can convert it and instantly add it to your team. That means it’s pretty easy to amass a massive collection of Digimon fairly quickly when you’re in the grind. There are a lot of benefits to having plenty of options sitting in your DigiBank, but sometimes, you want to get rid of extra or duplicate ‘mons. Time Stranger offers a few options for offloading unwanted Digimon, but I tend to always use one over the others.

Once you Convert a Digmon, it’ll join your bank of available options. There’s plenty of space here, with 999 slots to fill. Even so, you might have reasons for paring back your collection to make it easier to find the right Digimon for any given job. To delete a Digimon from your box, there are two main options: Return to Data and Load Enhancements. Each has its own benefits, but for me, it’s going to be Load Enhancements almost every time.
How to Get Rid of Unwanted Digimon in Time Stranger, Explained
To get rid of a Digimon you no longer want, you’ll need to head to the Digimon menu. From there, two options will let you permanently remove a Digimon from your box. You can select Return to Data from the menu, which will let you delete a Digimon and receive Yen in return. This option is great if you’re low on cash and need to stock up on useful items.

The other option is Load Enhancements. This menu option will also result in deleting some of your Digimon. However, instead of Yen, you will get a different perk. Load Enhancements lets you synthesize unwanted Digimon with another ‘mon of your choice, increasing their strengths and attributes in the process.

Both options have their uses. Yen can be a bit hard to come by in the early game, so grinding up Digimon for cash has its perks. But Load Enhancements lets you quickly gain experience to level up your Digimon, which can really come in handy when you need to make a certain ‘mon stronger, fast.
Why Using “Load Enhancements” Could Be Your Best Bet in Time Stranger
Personally, I tend to opt for the Load Enhancements option when getting rid of unwanted Digimon. It’s a great way to get a lot of EXP for the Digimon you do want to use, relatively quickly. So, if you’re about to go into a tough fight or are trying to meet the requirements to Digivolve a certain ‘mon, try grinding your unwanted critters to power up the ones you do want.
Because you can convert any Digimon after encountering it often enough, this is basically a built-in bank of EXP. When you convert a Digimon, they’ll still earn EXP from battle in your box. And that means they’re getting stronger, becoming even better fodder to power up other Digimon. In that way, you can gain bonus EXP for every battle, no Digifarm idle time required.

There may be times when you need the Yen more. But overall, Converting every available Digimon and then using Load Enhancements is often the better option. It lets you both get rid of the creatures you don’t want and level up your team more quickly, helping reduce the punishing grind.
On the other hand, simply returning Digimon to data just gets you money. That can come in handy if you’re saving up for healing items or power-ups. However, if you don’t have something specific in mind, it’s often more useful to strengthen your Digimon than to stock up on cash. Once you get into the battle grind and find a few precious gems, Yen tends to be less of a problem. But making your Digimon powerful? That’s almost always going to be a good move.
