There’s a lot you can do in the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – but you’re still going to run into limitations, and a good part of them are tied in with the Sheikah Slate. But it appears someone may have found a way around that, and, as a result, you can now get around better without the flow of time getting in your way. It’s just a matter of nailing the proper glitch.

According to Game Informer, a YouTube user by the name of Nintendo3DSChannel has managed to find a way around the Slate, and, for that matter, the day/night cycle that actually comes with the game. Again, it comes in the form of a glitch, so it’s not official, but it’s still fascinating to try anyway.
First off, you’ll need to set up a file outside the game’s starting area. Once you do that, go ahead and start up a new game, and then create a save in the room where you first wake up. Make sure you do not get the Sheikah Slate before you save!)
From there, go ahead and start up your other save, then look for a cliff that you can hang off of. (Make sure you press A so you can hang off of it.) Go ahead and pause the game at the same frame that you press A, and go ahead and start up your earlier save.
If done correctly, you’ll now be teleported outside the room you were originally in, without the Sheikah Slate in your possession. This, in turn, stops time in its tracks, so you won’t have to worry about Blood Moons and enemies respawning as a result. But this also hnders your ability to use fast travel or accessing the game’s map, so use at your own risk.
You can always revert back to your original save if you feel like you’ve had enough of the stoppage of time and want the Slate back, but this is well worth checking out. You can check out the video above for the breakdown on how this works.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
