Almost exactly 50 years to the date after the original The Exorcist landed in theaters, the upcoming The Exorcist: Believer will serve as a direct sequel to that William Friedkin film, with director David Gordon Green approaching the franchise similarly to how he approached his Halloween trilogy. In the original movie, a young girl was targeted by an otherworldly spirit seemingly at random, but with the upcoming Believer, it’s possible that the victims unknowingly opened themselves up to dark forces, with the sequel’s first clip teasing how the doorway was opened. You can check out the clip below before The Exorcist: Believer hits theaters on October 6th.
