There are plenty of villains who’ve taken Spider-Man to task over the years, and a slew of them have been brought to life on film. From the Green Goblin to Doctor Octopus and soon the Vulture, movie fanatics will have gotten a thorough sample of some of Spider-Man’s biggest baddies. However, there are still a few staples missing, and it looks like Tom Holland had once hoped a recent DC Entertainment star might have brought Kraven the Hunter to life.
Recently, the British star sat down with MTV for an interview where Holland talked about his work as Spider-Man. It was there that the actor was asked which Spider-Man baddies he’d like to see hit the screen, and Holland was not afraid to make his personal wish known.
“You know what? Kraven is one of my favorites for a cameo,” he said. “I always wanted Aquaman to play Kraven, but he’s now DC. I thought that would be super cool.”
Of course, Holland is talking about none other than Jason Momoa. The buff actor may be known by some for his Game of Thrones work, but DC Comics diehards are keeping tabs on Momoa these days since he’s playing Aquaman. The burly star definitely fits the style of Kraven given his complexion and intimidating physique - and Momoa may even be able to pull off the villain’s printed orange get-up.
While Holland may want to see Momoa take on the role, the possibility of that happening bottomed-out when the star signed on as Aquaman. While actors like Ryan Reynolds have flip-flopped between Marvel and DC properties, the switch is a difficult one to pull off. And, when you consider how busy Momoa is these days filming for Aquaman ahead of the second Justice League flick, then it doesn’t look like he’ll have time to suit up as Kraven.
For now, it looks like Holland will have to keep his wish securely a ‘what-if’ scenario.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast features Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Logan Marshall-Green, and Marisa Tomei.
The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
