Fans finally have their first look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in the Venom solo project.

The new image is courtesy of IGN, which shows Hardy as Brock holding a journal. He seems to be at a library, but it's hard to tell thanks to the blurred background. Brock is a reporter, so it makes sense he would be researching something, but it isn't known what he's pursuing.

Now fans are anxious to see what Hardy looks like in costume since it will be mostly CGI.

Michelle Williams has also been cast in the film and is believed to be playing Anne Weying, Eddie Brock's ex-wife in the comics who goes on to become She-Venom. Carnage is expected to be the film's villain and it is believed the Riz Ahmed is playing the role of Cletus Kasady. Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, and Scott Haze were also in negotiations to join the film's cast.

It is believed that the film will be inspired by the "Lethal Protector" storyline, which sees Venom going up against the Life Foundation, an organization interested in experimenting on the Venom symbiote. The organization is responsible for creating several more forcibly spawned symbiotes.

Tom Hardy was announced as the star of Venom back in May. The film will be directed by Ruben Fleischer and is the first installment of Sony's Marvel Universe, shared cinematic universe that will include Silver and Black, a movie featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat, and the Morbius movie.

The Venom film currently enjoys a 3.75 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, placing it at #11. You can submit your vote here.

Venom is scheduled for release on October 5, 2018.
