In 2018, the Avengers will make a comeback to theaters when the team’s third franchise film hits theaters. Avengers: Infinity War is set to debut next year, and the massive project will see Earth’s mightiest heroes align with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and more. The film will be the first of a two-part feature with Avengers 4 expected to hit theaters in May 2019. However, for the time being, Marvel Studios refuses to comment on what the second movie’s title will be – and fans know why now.

Apparently, it all comes down to spoilers.

Recently, the president of Marvel Studios sat down with CinemaBlend, and the site asked the executive about Avengers 4 directly. It was there Feige confirmed a long-held suspicion about Avengers 4 when he admitted the film’s title was a spoiler. When the site asked if the secrecy behind the movie’s name was due to its revealing nature, Feige said, “Yeah, for sure.”

Later in the interview, the site attempted to suss out whether Avengers 4 would still see Thanos act as its big bad. However, Feige was far less forthcoming with that information. The producer would only say the films are “two very different movies.”

Right now, there is no telling what the fourth Avengers flick could be called. The title will no doubt connect to the events of Avengers: Infinity War, so anything is possible. The confirmed spoiler could refer to any number of things. It may reveal who wins the galactic battle against Thanos or even announce if one of the MCU’s superheroes is killed off in the next Avengers film.

As for when the title will be announced, it will be next year unless any leaks manage to spill the name early. ComicBook’s Brandon Davis attended a press event for Marvel Studios recently where Feige said the company wants to hold onto the title for “as long as possible.”

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
