Next year, Avengers: Infinity War will jump into theaters to celebrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 10th anniversary. The climatic film will see dozens of Marvel’s characters come together as Thanos threatens to destroy the galaxy, but Earth’s Mightiest Heroes don’t seem to be accepting applications just yet.
The MCU is in a post-Civil War world, and the Avengers have yet to recover from the fallout. The team broke apart under the weight of the UN and its Sokovia Accords. Iron Man is manning the team whilst heroes like Captain America and Black Widow lie low as criminals. If you thought Avenger: Infinity War would assemble the team with new characters, then you can think again. According to the star of Black Panther, the upcoming blockbuster will do no such thing.

Chadwick Boseman recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about his current projects. The topic of Marvel came up as the actor plays T’Challa, a man better known as the Black Panther. The star was asked about Avengers: Infinity War and Boseman stressed the movie would not bring in new characters to the team.
“No. No new characters. All the same ones,” Boseman explained.
The Avengers may not be accepting any new heroes to its fractured team, but the MCU is recruiting overall. The massive film is expected to introduce new superheroes to the franchise, and Dave Bautista confirmed the suspicion during a talk with the podcast Talk Is Jericho.
“Those are the prominent Avengers that have been in all the films, but they’re really just adding so many characters in this. ‘Cuz they’re also starting to introduce other characters like they did in Captain America [Civil War]. They’ve brought in Spider-Man,” Bautista started.
“But they’re going to start moving into different phases of Marvel. So they’re introducing other characters. Black Panther. They’re gonna go a whole series of Black Panther.
In the future, the Avengers crew may add some new talent to its roster as the MCU moves forward. Rumors have suggested Captain Marvel could join up with the crew, and even some founding Avengers may pass on their monikers to new talent. Chris Evans has said his contract with Marvel Studios runs up with Avengers 4, so there is a chance Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson will suit up as Captain America in his stead.
Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
