If you have already seen Spider-Man: Homecoming, then you know the film gives Peter Parker is own personal JARVIS – well, kind of. The film follows the teenage vigilante as he tries to prove his worth to Tony Stark, but Peter gets tripped up a lot along the way. Even the hero’s upgraded suit gives Spider-Man some trouble once he learns it comes with its own AI, but the blip got some fans thinking.

Could Spider-Man’s new suit be the key to unlocking a new Avenger one day? Well, crazier things have happened in the MCU; Just look at Vision.

The recent speculation has roots which dive deep into Marvel’s comic canon and Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The latter piqued the interest of AI fans after Tony Stark was seen looking through various AIs he had created. The hero ultimately chose to suit up his Iron Man suits with Friday, but fans saw that Jocasta was one of the artificial intelligences available to him.

As Marvel fans will know, Jocasta is a character from the comics created to become the bride of Ultron. The robot’s AI was created by Ultron in the Marvel-616, but her birth was altered in the MCU like many other origins. The comics followed Jocasta as she rebels against her original programming to become a member of the Avengers – and fans are wondering if Jocasta may become Peter Parker’s AI in the future. Some are even questioning whether Karen may be an updated version of Jocasta, and the questioning is all because of who voices the AI. Jennifer Connelly was tapped to voice the personality, and fans want to believe the casting wasn’t just coincidental. After all, the star is married to Paul Bettany, the man behind JARVIS and Vision.

Of course, there’s no reason to believe the MCU would bring on Connelly just to set up a Vision romance. The franchise has been building up flirtation between Vision and Scarlet Witch since they were introduced, and Jocasta never got to enjoy a fling with Vision in the comics; He was too busy with Wanda at the time, and he crushed Jocasta’s unrequited crush. In the comics, Vision has since gone on to create his own AI family that Jocasta or Karen could fit into – but there is no real reason for either AI to jack Peter’s suit. If anything, it would make more sense for them to borrow Iron (Wo)Man armor for the affair.

Plus, Connelly is known for starring in a slew of 1980s films. Spider-Man: Homecoming borrows heavily from that decade’s aesthetic, so Marvel casting Connelly could be nothing more than a simple film reference. It doesn’t seem all too likely that the MCU would waste resources bringing a lower-tier Avenger to life on the bring screen right now. Sure, Doctor Strange may have been a lesser-known hero the general public, but the sorcerer had years backing up his resume. Jocasta? Eh, not so much.

Still, it would be interesting to see Vision interact with another full-bodied AI character. Ultron and Vision had their own spat, so fans are curious to know how the latter would react to a more friendly comrade. The encounter may not come in the form of Jocasta or Karen or any other AI in Tony Stark’s repertoire, but it is one fans are hoping they will see down the line. Maybe if Vision gets his own solo film one day, hmm?
