When Ryan Coogler was hired to direct Black Panther, many speculated that he, typically a writer-director, would want a crack at the script. Well, that's exactly what's happening, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said.

"We have a number of writers on it, including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing," Feige told Collider. "He's working on the draft right now."

The script update isn't all he had to say about the film, after early critical response has pointed out that Chadwick Boseman's character is a standout in Captain America: Civil War, where Black Panther debuts.

"Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements," the studio president revealed. He also said they shooting schedule is at early 2017. "We start filming at the very beginning of next year."

Black Panther is currently in pre-production for a February 16, 2018 debut.
