Of course, the positive fan response must be a relief to Marvel Studios and Netflix. Iron Fist isn’t set to fade into the black anytime soon thanks to his role in The Defenders. Jones will reprise his role as Danny Rand in the ensemble miniseries later this year. And, not long ago, the actor told fans just how important Jones is in the series.
“Danny is incredible pivotal to the whole narrative of The Defenders which you’ll see. In terms of dynamic in the group, he is most vulnerable, most optimistic, and most reckless of the group,” Jones told IGN in a recent interview.
This isn’t the first time the actor has talked about his part in The Defenders. Last week, the star spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Iron Fist’s growing role in the ensemble series. According to the star, Rand will be the team member who enlightens his comrades about their city’s bigger threat.
“Danny understands the bigger threat, because he’s been dealing it all throughout his life and all throughout season one of Iron Fist,” Jones said. “So, when he meets The Defenders, he’s the one who really drives the group to understand the bigger picture.”
In Marvel’s Iron Fist, fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Marvel’s Iron Fist is developed by Scott Buck, who serves as the series showrunner. Iron Fist stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, as well as Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are all available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017. The Defenders expected later in the year. The Punisher does not have a release date yet.
