“Roguish and unpredictable, Ego and Star-Lord share many of the same qualities as father and son,” the toy description reads. “But when it comes to defending the galaxy as each sees fit, their approaches unquestionably differ. Imagine sending Ego and Star-Lord into Guardians of the Galaxy action with this 6-inch scale figure 2-pack from the Marvel Legends Series. With the Marvel Legends Series, both kid and adult Marvel fans can start a legendary collection of comic- and movie-based Marvel characters. The Marvel’s Ego and Star-Lord figures are highly articulated and feature a movie-inspired design, making them an awesome cosmic addition to the Marvel Legends Series. Ages 4 and up.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Marvel Legends Star-Lord and Ego Action Figures 2-Pack” retails for $39.99 and is coming out in August, but you can pre-order the set now.
Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Ego appeared as a villain in the comics where he faced off against Thor, Nova, Silver Surfer, and more. He is an actual living planet that comes complete with a brain and innards, and Ego wields some pretty gnarly psionic powers to boot. However, fans shouldn’t expect to see too much of Ego in his natural state in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin.
