Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: First Look at Action Figure for Kurt Russell’s Ego

Online retailer Entertainment Earth has unveiled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 action figures from Hasbro’s 6-inch Marvel Legends toy line, and they feature a new look at the bearded human form that Kurt Russell‘s Ego the Living Planet — Star-Lord’s (Chris Pratt) biological father — will take in the film.

“Roguish and unpredictable, Ego and Star-Lord share many of the same qualities as father and son,” the toy description reads. “But when it comes to defending the galaxy as each sees fit, their approaches unquestionably differ. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Marvel Legends Star-Lord and Ego Action Figures 2-Pack” retails for $39.99 and is coming out in August, but you can pre-order the set now.

Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Ego appeared as a villain in the comics where he faced off against Thor, Nova, Silver Surfer, and more. He is an actual living planet that comes complete with a brain and innards, and Ego wields some pretty gnarly psionic powers to boot. However, fans shouldn’t expect to see too much of Ego in his natural state in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
