5. Eddie The Eagle

Eddie The Eagle may be one of Jackman’s more recent roles, but it’s easily one of his most memorable.

The actor played an over-the-hill former Olympian, and he has a bit of a drinking problem. Paired with a young-and-optimistic Olympic hopeful, Jackman has to achieve what he never could, and become the leader he never wanted to be.

This role is a bit like Logan, but Jackmanย made enough changes to make the film worthwhile.ย

4. Kate & Leopold

After becoming known as The Wolverine, Jackmanย had a rugged, bad-boy stigma he needed to break. What’s the best way to do that?

How about star in a rom-com with Meg Ryan?

Kate & Leopold was a surprise success, and all the guys in the audience were able to enjoy it because of Jackman’s performance.

This movie also served as the first step toward Logan, as it was written and directed by James Mangold.

3. Prisoners

No one is more determined than a father searching for his child, and Hugh Jackman sold the desperation perfectly.

Prisoners was an incredible thriller, one to remember, and Jackmanย should get the credit for getting the crowd invested. Not many can relate to losing a child, but his performance cause empathy in the hearts of everyone in attendance.ย

Aside from Logan, Prisoners is probably the most emotional performance of Jackman’sย career.

2. The Prestige

Perhaps the best movie on this list, The Prestige goes down as one of the most surprising and well-paced films in history.

Jackmanย played a dueling magician, and his fight with Christian Bale was enough to have anyone believing in the power of magic.

The performance was controlled, and masterful, and it let to one of the breakout roles in Jackman’sย storied career.

1. Les Miserables

When Hugh Jackmanย landed the role of Wolverine, he was merely a stage actor and theater teacher. In fact, he had recently appeared in the television adaptation of Oklahoma!.

The guy’s roots are in musical theater, so it’s only fitting that his best role was full of song.

Jackmanย was even recognized by the Academy for his role as Jean Valjean, as he earned an Oscar nomination for his work.
