There aren’t too many mutants in the Marvel universe deadlier than Magik, and Odfel Cosplay managed to capture the character perfectly in this amazing photo shoot.

Magik has changed a great deal over the years, but Odfel decided to recreate the character’s current “Uncanny X-Men” look. It’s a much more risque outfit than previous looks but has become one of the most popular in a relatively short time. It’s easy to see why, as the all black spiky ensemble fits her edgier personality to a tee. She’s sarcastic, confident, and lethal, and this costume says all of those things in ample measure.
The costume is incredibly well done, and the photos perfectly compliment it. From the natural locations in The Portrait Dude photoshoot to the more modern and stylized backdrops of BB Photography, both bring out different aspects of the suit. Despite the differing approaches, both look fantastic, and you can find more images from both photoshoots in the gallery.
You can find more of Odfel’s Cosplay on Facebook, Instagram, and her Patreon, where prints are also available. For more of The Portrait Dude’s photography, you can head to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the official website. BB Photography can be found on Facebook.
Illyana didn’t start out with these powers, instead gaining them when the sorcerer Belasco kidnapped her. He attempted to use her as a conduit for his masters, turning her into the demonic Darkchilde. In his quest to do so he gave her an impressive power set, but it backfired on him when she turned and almost eliminated him instead. She didn’t though, successfully holding on to her humanity and taking control of Limbo for herself. She’s now able to teleport others to places through her connection to Limbo, and even housed the entirety of the X-Men there during the Inhumans War. Magik also has the incredibly powerful soulsword at her disposal, creating one of the most powerful (and at times unpredictable) X-Men in existence.
It will be interesting to see how much of this is integrated into the film version of the character, or if they decide to take a different tact altogether. Hopefully, that’s not the case, as many would be disappointed if some of the most interesting parts of her backstory aren’t included in the upcoming project.
