The collaboration between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios earned praise from critics and fans alike, prompting ticket buyers to flock to theaters in droves for the third incarnation of the Marvel Comics wallcrawler.
The movie hit the milestone on Thursday, after sitting at $299.2 million on Wednesday with a $1.1 million addition to its box office haul to date. The numbers top those of The Amazing Spider-Man's "adjusted for inflation" total which sits equivalent to $299 million, having actually taken in $262 million. The success may also be attributed to an impressive batch of star-power as young gun Tom Holland was accompanied by Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, and Marisa Tomei.
Spider-Man: Homecoming opened after the lackluster debuts of The Mummy and Transformers: The Last Knight, meaning ticket sales were primed for harvest, and was followed by Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets which underperformed with fans electing to stick with Spidey.

This might be why the studio is so eager to produce the Spider-Man spinoff film (though, not connected to Spider-Man: Homecoming) Venom with Tom Hardy at the lead.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, a young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.).
