When Marvel and Netflix announced their plan to bring four different heroes to life on the streaming service in their own individual shows to culminate in a big team up series, fans were sent into a frenzy. Now we’re little over a month away before we get to the culmination of their initial plans with The Defenders.

Actor Finn Jones spoke about how his character differentiates from the other Defenders this weekend at Denver Comic Con, as reported by Latino Review.

He went on to call Danny “extremely hot-headed,” as well as “a mess of a character.” Now, to be clear, he meant that the character himself is a mess in his personality โ€” not that the show did a terrible job of writing him. He also went on to say that they are in the process of “growing him into a superhero.”

Though Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Daredevil will all receive their own followups in the next year โ€” not to mention the first true spinoff coming with The Punisher โ€” it feels like their plans have all been working toward Defenders.

But while the other members dwelled in the paranormal and the unreal, few had a foot firmly planted in mysticism like Iron Fist. After Danny Rand’s plan crashed in the Himalayas and he learned the magic secret of the Iron Fist, he finally returned to New York City to retake the company that was stolen from his family.

It’s interesting that he’d distinguish Iron Fist as “a mess” considering every one of his teammates could also qualify as such. But he does have a point that we saw very little heroic aspects from the character. Though the other Defenders have their own issues, their’s no doubting they possess the qualities of a hero.

Hopefully they rub off on Rand when the series premieres on August 18.
