Both the principle actors as well as the director of the movie have said to expect the most comedic elements of any Thor, or Marvel, movie to date but combined with the amazing action sequences that the franchise has been known for.

Tom Hiddleston recently discussed the upcoming movie with MTV International and said that how everything comes together is among the things he is most excited about.

“(Director) Taika Waititi’s vision is awesome,” Hiddleston said.

“In Norse mythology, Ragnarok means ‘the end of everything’ — the end of the world, the universe, time and space, so the stakes are quite high. Without revealing too much, the way that happens; the way it begins, it is just spectacular.”

The events of Ragnarok — at least in the Marvel Comics — have happened before, where the Asgardian race has been forced into a clean slate, restart. Ultimately in the print version, Thor overcomes the adversity of Hela (played in this film by Cate Blanchett) to prevent any future Ragnarok’s from occurring. If this canon is followed in film has yet to be revealed but the theory is making the rounds.

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok โ€“ the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization โ€“ at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger โ€“ the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Hiddleston will reprise his role of Loki, and added to MTV International that growing cast will be a shining point of the movie.

“There are three or four new actors in it, which I think brought something completely brilliant and unique to it,” he said. “Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Tessa Thompson.”
