Spoilers incoming for X-Men: Gold #7, so if you haven’t read the issue yet you’ve now been warned.
X-Men: Gold #7 picks up not too far after the the big battle with the sentient Sentinel A.I. in issue #6. A self-replicating nanite cloud wreaked havoc with the X-Men’s powers across the board, but most have recovered in the time since. That is, except for Colossus, whose powers have not returned.
That’s right, the steel coated mutant is unable to transform into his metal skin. His condition was first discovered after Prestige (Rachel Grey) let loose her untapped power, causing all of the nanite clouds to implode. This was a good thing, but after the cloud dissipated Peter was seen in his human form with cuts all over him.
Earlier in the battle, the nanites were able to manipulate his steel form, causing it to unravel, but it isn’t known if that has anything to do with his condition now.
As seen in issue #7, this hasn’t removed his above level endurance or strength, and test results found that his mutant gene is unaffected, so at some point, the dormant powers should awaken. The bad news is that he is no longer impervious to harm, and that might just be the death of him according to the issue’s final pages.
Fans love old metal head, so hopefully, his powers manifest again sooner rather than later. You can see a preview of the issue in the gallery.
X-Men: Gold #7 is written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Ken Lashley, who also provides the issue’s cover. The official description is located below.
