Earlier today, more casting news broke about X-Men: New Mutants. The upcoming superhero film is still in development as 20th Century Fox rounds up a stellar cast of up-and-coming talent. Not long ago, reports surfaced that Henry Zaga was cast as the mutant Sunspot. Now, new rumors have hit the Internet which report that two actresses are in the mix to play the X-Men character Mirage.

According to Omega Underground, the site’s sources have said that Blu Hunt and True O’Brien are in the mix for Mirage. The first actress is best known for her work on Originals whilst the latter is starred in Days of Our Lives.

So far, reports are leaning towards Hunt when it comes to Mirage given her recent social media activity. The actress recently followed director Josh Boone, Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, and co-writer Knate Lee on Instagram. Boone and Henry Zaga recently followed the actress back as well.

Coincidence? Well, that’s for you to decide.

If you are not familiar with Mirage, then you can brush up on the X-Men heroine’s history. The character’s real name is Danielle ‘Dani’ Moonstar, and her mutation is not one you’d want to mess with. The girl is able to telepathically impose illusions onto her opponents, making them experience their greatest fears or wishes. As she develops her powers in the comics, Mirage gains the ability to create psionic weapons and even create empathetic links with others.

The New Mutants movie was announced by 20th Century Fox back 2015 with Boone set to write and direct. Boone directed the film adaptation of The Fault in our Stars, making him a go-to choice for The New Mutants. Fox has said it’s looking to make The New Mutants a YA movie series in its X-Men movies franchise, but horror elements will also be added in.

X-Men movies veterans Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg will produce The New Mutants. Knate Gwaltney is co-writing the screenplay with Boone. The team is said to have pitched the story as a trilogy. The Fault in our Stars writers Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber were later brought in to revise the script.
