Transformers: The Last Knight Has Surprising Villain

For countless iterations, the Transformers universe has come down to conflicts between the Autobots and the Decepticons, and specifically between the Autobots leader Optimus Prime and the Decepticons general Megatron. For Transformers: The Last Knight, though, Paramount is evidently changing things up a bit.

Megatron will be involved of course, as the studio teased it months ago, though it's unknown how he managed to get back to his original form. Though he will be involved, it doesn't' seem like he will be the main antagonist of The Last Knight. During a recent on-set visit, Collider spoke to producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura about the film's villain, and he thinks will be surprised at the villain's look and feel.

"A surprise, I think, as you discover who the villain is. So in that respect, that is a very different kind of Decepticon form, if you would. I think that the understanding of the mythology, as you begin to unveil it, you'll understand just how big the jeopardy that we're going to face is."

Rumors point to the main villain being Unicron, but the studio hasn't let those details out just yet. Unicron is a true beast all to himself, and it would fit with his comments about it being "a very different kind of Decepticon form". It would also explain why Megatron has his original body back, as in the original animated film Unicron healed Megatron's wounds and gave him a spruced up form.

Transformers: The Last Knight is directed by Michael bay, and stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Liam Garrigan, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, Santiago Cabrera, and Anthony Hopkins.
