With Jurassic World now in theaters, you may want to bring some of prehistoric goodness home with you after seeing it in theaters. While you obviously can't do that with the film itself (yet), Hasbro comes to the rescue with toys for all ages, including the requisite figures plus role play elements.

The Indominus Rex is the centerpiece manufactured dinosaur in the film, and the toy is properly imposing. Its neck is flexible, and when you push down on the arms, (after two AA batteries) it roars and the mouth opens. The back also lights up, you know, like Dinosaurs' backs typically do... It's a well-constructed toy, until you get to the legs. They're supposed to click into place so the dino can either stand erect or crouch low, but when it's standing tall, if you so much as lightly press on the arms, let alone actually activate the mechanism, Indominus instantly falls. The crouch position, which seems like it should lock in place, instead falls all the way to rest on its arms. It's not terrible looking, but seems a little off. The most fun thing about it is the fact that it's proportionally large enough to fit the Raptor toys in its mouth.

The Raptor assortment toys feature three of Chris Pratt's raptors. They don't stand too well either - it seems the leg on the one sent to us for review from Hasbro is bent inward a bit. When you pull it all the way back and use the tail for a little support, you can get it to stand well enough.

Speaking of raptors, there are also role play toys, similar to the Marvel helmets, gauntlets, and gloves that have been so popular. This time around, you can arm yourself with raptor claws or a chomping dino head puppet. These are well made, easy to slap on, and fun to run up behind your wife with while she's doing dishes or cooking. The chomping head is also fun for putting your cat's neck in, though they'll probably think it's just a massage tool.

The most well-made toy of the bunch is actually the ages 3 and up T-Rex. The toy comes with a Playskool-style wrangler, who fits easily into the T-Rex's mouth. You simply lift up the tail, and a roar and chomp makes short work of the little guy. It stands well, the mechanism works well and reliably, and it should be great for play for younger kids.

A pair of Brawlasaurs was also in the sample package, though the little battlefield/launchers weren't included. These are basically Rock, Papers, Scissors toys - you twist the tail, choose which style of attack you want, then bash the magnetic locks together - they twist and turn in a "battle" and you look at the bottom to see who won. I imagine it's a bit more fun for kids with their tops and such. Kids these days.

Finally, Hasbro's now-ubiquitous Hero Mashers make an appearance here with dino-mix-and-match toys. The "story reason" is that in this film, they make new dinosaurs - so now you can do that too! Each one comes with a second set of legs (or um, flippers), and an extra head and fin of some sort. easy to swap, and even easier to create a horrible disfigured creature. HOW DOES IT GO TO THE BATHROOM, HASBRO? WHY WOULD YOU LET ME DO THIS?!
