When Rob Liefeld went to visit the set of Deadpool, he got to see a character he created come to life. The creator was amazed, getting to see the production offices with “walls and walls and walls” of art, and story boards. But he didn’t know he’d also be put in the film.

“It was a once in a lifetime experience,” Liefeld told ComicBook.com. “It’s great to be on set, and the fact that they snuck me into a scene was a wonderful aspect of it.”
It was also a little “brutish” for the creator, who doesn’t like having his picture taken, but luckily he’s only on screen for a moment.
As for that moment? It’s perfect. In the bar run by Weasel in the movie, Sister Margaret’s, it’s Mercs only. Mercenaries report in, get jobs, and get paid. When Wade Wilson heads there for the first time in the film, he walks by two fellow mercs: “Buck. Liefeld,” he says, greeting them. Yes, Robert Liefeld, the creator of the Merc with a Mouth, is a mercenary himself in the movie world of Deadpool.
Of course, as an on and off freelance artist and writer, it seems Liefeld has a bit of experience with the mercenary lifestyle.
As for other cameos, Stan Lee appeared in the film as an announcer at a strip club, and Fabian Nicieza (co-creator of the character) appears by way of a pair of street signs.
Deadpool is in theaters now, starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Tim Miller.
