The Fate of the Furious is on track for a huge opening weekend at the box office.
As expected, the eight film in the Fast & Furious franchise will break $100 million in its opening weekend. The film is expected to earn $103 million in its first three days at theaters, making it th second-highest opening weekend in the franchise’s history. Furious 7 remains the franchise’s best opener with $147 million.

The Fate of the Furious earned $45.6 million on Friday, including $10.4 million from Thursday night early screenings. The Fate of the Furious is opening in 4,311 theaters nationwide, making it the widest opening for a non-summer release ever.
The Fate of the Furious is estimated to have a $250 million production budget. The film is scheduled for release in 63 territories, in addition to the United States and Canda.

Fox’s animated comedy The Boss Baby slipped to the number two spot on the box office chart after two weeks on top. The Boss Baby is expected to earn $15.9 million over its third box office weekend, bringing its box office total to $116.7 million.
Disney’s blockbuster Beauty and the Beast live-action remake landed in the third spot at the box office. The film earned $13.4 million at the box office, bringing its domestic total to $454.4 million.
