Each film in the original trilogy received worse reviews than its predecessor, and the fourth film – which departed from the the style and storyline of the series – was bashed even harder than the rest.
Many have felt that the series has lost its way over the years, so the upcoming fifth installment – Dead Men Tell No Tales – has been met with quite a bit of uncertainty.
The new movie screened at CinemaCon early this week, and fans are surprised to see the that the reactions from the press have been overwhelmingly positive.
Here’s what some of the critics in attendance had to say about Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Fun All-Around

Falls under the”brilliant performances” category. Still, I think the effects and gigantic action set pieces steal the show. https://t.co/YmRPRZjpyT

Visual Effects Were The Highlight
Some complained that the fourth Pirates movie lacked in the visual department. They had plenty of complaints, but that was one of the biggest.
Accordingย to this early audience, Dead Men Tell No Tales does nothing but excel in that department.

Also new Pirates of the Caribbean the VFX are *really* well done. Had no ending credits so not sure if it has after credits scene.

Much More Like The Original
Everyone loved the original Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. When the next three films didn’t feel like the original, people started to lose interest.
If these reactions are accurate, the new installment will take you back to the good ole’ days.

Though not the best in the franchise, it delivers the fun you expect and want from Sparrow & Co. #PiratesoftheCaribbean #Cinemacon

Thing I liked most about #PiratesoftheCaribbean is it felt the most like the first movie, which is my personal favorite. Strong finale pic.twitter.com/SF9b6uk4GU
