Over at Collider, they have what's purportedly the biggest cache of new information on the 2017 Power Rangers movie to date.
According to the report, Director Dean Israelite's film currently stars Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. No actual character names have been shared, and unless he's being purposely omitted from the story, the Yellow Ranger is missing.
They further report that while the script is subject to change, their current thinking is that the characters' names and animals are:
- Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus
- Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl
- Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops
- Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon
- Teyana Jones – The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-tooth Tiger
They also claim that, in keeping with recent properties like Marvel's The Avengers, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the film will be titled Saban's Power Rangers.
Don't expect it to be too massively expensive; at this point they're hearing about $35 million as the film's budget.
Saban's Power Rangers will be in theaters on January 13, 2017.
