The fifth Terminator film, long rumored to be titled Terminator: Genesis, has officially been titled Terminator: Genisys.
The titled was officially revealed via the film's Twitter feed, and via star Arnold Schwarzenegger's Instagram feed, where he posted an image of a set chair with the film's logo, accompanied by the following statement:
Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back.
Schwarzenegger is returning to the franchise he helped build after being absent from its most recent installment. Genisys is rumored to be the first in a new trilogy of Terminator films. Plot details are scarce, but the film is rumored to be giving the franchise a soft reboot through the use of time travel, a staple narrative mechanic of the series.
Terminator: Genisys comes to theaters July 1, 2015.
