The Flash’s Matt Letscher Denies Kingsman: The Golden Circle Role

The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow villain Matt Letscher says he will not be appearing in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, despite media reports (and the film’s Wikipedia entry) claiming that he will be playing an unnamed role.

Wikipedia lists Letscher as playing a Statesman agent — the U.S. version of Kingsman — while Comic Book Movie had him down in an unnamed role. It was the latter that led a fan to reach out to Letscher, who denied the reports.

It’s entirely plausible that Letscher is actually iin the movie, but either misleading fans with the denial, or using a carefully-worded denial to hide sensitive plot spoilers (for instance, when asked if he’s playing an unnamed role, he could say no because his character has a name that audiences are just not aware of yet). Fans saw something like that recently when Manu Bennett repeatedly denied his involvement with the Arrow season finale even as fans were snapping photos of him at the Vancouver airport on his way to film scenes.

It’s equally or perhaps more likely that Letscher is denying a role because he’s simply not in the film; it’s possible that either Wikipedia, or Comic Book Movie, was confused or misinformed and that one then copied the information from the other.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the sequel to the 2015 film Kingsman: The Secret Service. Both are inspired by the comic book The Secret Service, written by Mark Millar (Wanted, Old Man Logan) and drawn by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen).

In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, with their headquarters destroyed and the world held hostage, members of Kingsman find new allies when they discover a spy organization in the United States known as Statesman. In an adventure that tests their strength and wits, the elite secret agents from both sides of the pond band together to battle a ruthless enemy and save the day, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy. The titular “Golden Circle” is a secret society bent on world domination.

Principal photography for Kingsman: The Golden Circle began in May 2016 in Birmingham. Filming wrapped in September 2016, though on location shoots were still taking place into December.

Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn returns to helm the sequel. Kingsman: The Golden Circle stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle has had a few release dates, first in June and then in October, but the film is now officially scheduled to open in theaters on Sept. 22, 2017.
