Elric: The Ruby Throne Graphic Novel Trailer Released

Titan Comics have released a trailer for Elric: The Ruby Throne Vol. 1, the first a new series of graphic novels adapting the adventures of Michael Moorcock's seminal fantasy antihero. The first in a series of four graphic novels, The Ruby Throne is written by Julien Blondel with art from Didier Poli and Robin Recht. The ancient island of Melniboné has been ruled by Elric, the albino emperor, for millennia. Reliant on magic and herbs for his strength and prolonged life, Elric's grip on Melniboné is crumbling, as his people slide into decadence. Now his envious cousin Yyrkoon, Prince of Melniboné, plots to overthrow him and claim the Ruby Throne for himself. Lavishly illustrated, this new comic adaptation has been produced with the full and enthusiastic endorsement of Moorcock himself, who has written an original introduction for this edition. Moorcock's Elric stories are more seminal than most American audiences know, influencing comic book and fantasy authors for a generation, including Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman. Moorcock is known for his dark, metaphysical and introspective fantasy narratives and being among the earliest genre fiction authors to play with the concept of a multiverse. Elric: The Ruby Throne Vol. 1 will be released on September 16.
