Marvel Comics has released a preview of Spider-Man 2099 #1, the first issue of a new ongoing series by writer Peter David (All-New X-Factor, Incredible Hulk) and artist Will Sliney (Fearless Defenders, Superior Spider-Man Team-Up).

The series spins out of Amazing Spider-Man, with Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of the year 2099, left stranded in the year 2014 by his father, the evil head of the corporation called Alchemax.

When Miguel realizes that Alchemax is only just forming in 2014, he decides to go undercover as an employee to stop the corporation's rise to power before it starts.

"Miguel becomes determined to try and transform his grandfather, Tiberius Stone into a decent guy in the hopes that it will wind up informing the raising of Tyler Stone, and perhaps make him a better person," says writer Peter David in an interview with Marvel.com.  "In short, he's hoping that he can influence the development of both the present and future of Alchemax."

"He's going to find that's not as easy as he'd hoped," David continued.

Additionally, Miguel will have to deal with The Adjustor, a powerful being determined to eliminate Spider-Man 2099 from the timestream, as well as the upcoming "Spider-Verse" event.

Spider-Man 2099 #1 goes on sale this July.
