Fox has announced that The Simpsons will broadcast live for three minutes during its May 15 episode.
During those three minute, Homer Simpson will discuss current events and answer fan submitted questions.
Showrunner Al Jean told THR that the show will use motion capture technology with voice actor Dan Castelleneta to create the live Homer Simpson.
"As far as I know, this is the first time that's been done by any animated show," Jean said. "And Dan is a great improviser."
The live portion of the broadcast will tie into the overall them of the show, which deals with improvisational comedy.
Fans who want to have Homer answer their questions live can tweet their questions suing the hastag #HomerLive from May 1 through May 4.
