The filming, which has been taking place for about two months in Louisiana, has been surprisingly without leaks; one image hit the Web during Comic Con International: San Diego last week which was purported to be a leaked design for The Thing, but nothing has come from the set of the film at all, which stands in contrast to the dozens of photos coming out of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and hundreds of photos coming from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Just to clarify, it isn’t the whole film that’s wrapped — only Mara’s portion of it, at least so far. She’s the biggest name of the four and probably has the most difficult set of conflicts to work around, so it’s likely they shot her out first to avoid scheduling problems.

That it’s just Mara and not the film that’s wrapped was confirmed by a tweet by her on-screen love interest Miles Teller (Mara plays Sue Storm while Teller plays Reed Richards):

Fantastic Four is set for a June 19 release, making the decision to hold the cast back from Comic Con last week curious, since there won’t be another one before the movie hits theaters. Given how quickly they shot Mara out, though, perhaps production is nearly finished and they either didn’t want to break up the rhythm of the project or money is an issue and they didn’t want to pay the cast and crew for the extra days.

It’s one of a number of current comics projects — including Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy — that has a release date for a presumed sequel in place before the current installment is even in theaters.
