The Tracking Board is reporting that Sony is developing an new adaptation of H.G. Wells 1897's science fiction novella The Invisible Man.

In Wells' original tale, a brilliant scientist named Griffin is studying optics and figures out a way to become invisible. Tragically, he can't reverse the procedure.

There have be numerous films based on The Invisible Man; this time Sony "is developing a new spin that will make the Invisible Man the villain of the film, with the audience following the hero that is tasked to hunt him down." I'm not sure how "new" that spin is; it sounds quite a bit like 2000's Hollow Man, which starred Kevin Bacon (Footloose).

This version will be handled by the Divergent producers, Lucy Fisher and Doug Wick.
