Stan Bush, who wrote the iconic pop anthems at the heart of 1986's Transformers The Movie, has created a new song for Shadow Warrior 2, a video game that calls back to the '80s.

Bush told Kotaku during a recent interview that "Warrior" is a song he'd "pretty much completed" before Devolver Digital ever approached him with the idea for a special EP to commemorate the sequel to 2013's Shadow Warrior reboot.

He told Kotaku that the name is sheer coincidence; he sent the track along to Devolver, who asked for a couple of minor tweaks, and that was it.

That's actually somewhat similar to the story of how Bush came to be involved with the Transformers The Movie soundtrack: his fan-favorite track "The Touch" was actually written with a Sylvester Stallone movie in mind, but when the studio went a different way, Bush ended up being approached to work on Transformers, and it was a marriage made in Heaven.

Bush spoke at great length about the songs he contributed to Transformers and his creative process in general in the special features of the recent, 30th anniversary re-release of that film.

Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog's offbeat first-person shooter starring the brash warrior Lo Wang, who must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world.

You can pre-order the game for $35.99 on Steam. It will be available in two weeks on consoles.
