Director J.J. Abrams has not yet filmed a movie entirely in IMAX, but he did shoot some of Star Trek Into Darkness in the format and has had successful theatrical runs on IMAX screens for both Into Darkness and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. And now, at least according to the IMAX people, he's kicking around the idea of shooting part of Star Wars Episode VII in IMAX, too. That's based on a quote from IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond, who's quoted at Ain't It Cool News as saying, "We are talking to J.J. Abrams test now about the next Star Wars being used with partly IMAX cameras." The quote comes from a big-picture speech Gelfond gave to investors, which you can read here.
