Director Zack Snyder definitely has had his share of criticism and of course Warner Bros. Man of Steel polarizing fans of this new direction in the process.

Cut to three years later, Snyder is now part of Warner's and DC's inner-circle of filmmakers who are going to bring some of their characters to the big screen, some for the first time. The director had the chance to open up on his stance of Man of Steel and spills a few more details on March's highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to Famous Monsters of Filmland.

Now, the issue doesn't hit stands for another two weeks, but fansite HenryCavillNews was shown a preview by the publisher. Concerning the mayhem level of Man of Steel, the director stood by the decision, as he considered it logical and realistic.

"I stand by it, because for me, I've always said when I was working on Watchmen — and maybe it's sort of left over from a Watchmen philosophical sort of thing — that there should be consequences to superheroes' interaction with the earth," he said.
"And that was kind of the way that we approached Man of Steel. I wanted a big consequence to Superman's arrival on earth. Certainly, Batman v. Superman sort of cashes in all its chips on the 'why' of that destruction."

As for the match up of Gotham's Dark Knight and Metropolis' Big Blue Boy Scout, Snyder doesn't consider it just a physical confrontation, but something immensely more.

"It's just incredibly satisfying and fun to dig into these two mythological characters and find a through line that allows them to come into conflict in a way that not only is philosophically satisfying, but also physically real."

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
