The Big Bang Theory crew had quite the holiday season, which kicked off with the delivering of baby Wolowitz. Now fans will get a chance to see what they've been up to this whole time when the series returns tonight.

For executive producer Steve Molaro, it presented an opportunity to play with the format of the show a bit. The crew's holiday tasks will be almost completely told in flashback, something that The Big Bang Theory typically doesn't utilize (via TV Line).

They will be "hanging out and recapping their horrible holidays," says Molaro. "Sheldon and Amy visited his mom (Laurie Metcalf, reprising her role) in Texas, Leonard and Penny stayed at home and got the bright idea to chop down their own tree, and Howard and Bernadette have their first week with the baby — we'll see how they're weathering that. Structurally, it's not the kind of episode we typically do."

Speaking of their new baby, Molaro has said previously that in honor of Howard's mother, fans will never see baby Wolowitz on screen.

You can find the official description of the midseason finale, The Convergence Convergence, below.

Leonard and Penny try to have a wedding ceremony that everyone can attend, but it creates serious conflict among Sheldon's mother and Leonard's divorced parents. Meanwhile, Howard and Raj become convinced the government is out to get them.

The Big Bang Theory returns tonight at 8/7 CST on CBS.
