The creative team behind Mayans MC has been casting, location scouting, and getting ready to film the series pilot this month. Ever since the show was given a pilot order from FX in December, the details surrounding the Sons Of Anarchy spin-off have been kept under wraps. Aside from the occasional casting announcement, mum’s been the word.

Finally, creator Kurt Sutter opened the floodgates this past week. In addition to showing the first look at two of the lead characters on their bikes, he unveiled the first photo of the entire Mayans MC together. Some of the men in the picture had previously been announced as a part of the cast, but there were others that no one knew were involved.

One of these actors is Raymond Cruz, who fans of Breaking Bad will always remember as Tuco Salamanca.

The character was a large part of Breaking Bad during the first season, and he appeared once more during the first season of the prequel series, Better Call Saul. Cruz played a big role in one iconic TV universe, and it looks like he’s heading into another one.

While there hasn’t been any official word that Cruz has been cast in the new series, this photo is pretty telling. The only actors pictured are a part of the actual club, and he’s definitely pictured.

By the looks of things, Cruz has landed some kind of role within the Mayans MC. It could be as a part of the chapter in Santo Padre, or it could be up in Northern California with club president Marcus Alvarez.

Hopefully, there will be some kind of official announcement regarding the actor’s involvement as filming finally begins.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that Raymond Cruz has been added to the show as a member of the club. THR revealed this character bio with the announcement:

Cruz will play Che “Padre” Romero, a full patch member of Mayans MC, Santo Padre and the founder of a local Mexican MC. With road-worn experience, he keeps a paternal eye out for the club. He is the voice of reason amongst the chaos. Cruz will appear in the pilot and, should Mayans MC be picked up to series, he will recur.

The Mayans MC pilot is set to film this April in Los Angeles. Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is directing the episode, with a script written by showrunner Elgin James. If picked up to series, the show will likely air on FX this fall. The cast for the series includes JD Pardo, Antonio Jaramillo, Clayton Cardenas, John Ortiz, Richard Cabral, Sarah Bolger, and Edward James Olmos.
