McGregor has become the most famous UFC fighter in the world, and is the only fighter two hold championship belts in two weight classes simulatneously. He's made it clear that dominance in the ring isn't enough, and the fighter has been looking to expand into some acting jobs.
McGregor initially had a role in the upcoming Vin Diesel movie, XxX: Return of Xander Cage, but he turned it down so he could continue his training. Conor has always been a fan of Game Of Thrones. and it looks like one of the show's producers has some mutual respect.
This appearance could be any number of things. While many would think an icon, with the mass recognizability of McGregor, would be given a speaking role, there's a chance he could just be an extra in a scene. Other celebrities have had brief appearances on the show, with musicians like Mastadon, Sigur Ros, and Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol). The drummer from Coldplay, Will Champion, was perhaps the most famous of these cameos, as he appeared playing music during the Red Wedding.
Neither HBO, nor McGregor, have confirmed this rumor, but fans are ecstatic nontheless.
