Hodor’s final moments on Game of Thrones have been ingrained into the minds of the millions of fans who watch the show. “The Door,” was a kind of pop culture flashpoint that has even prompted the show’s producers to apologize for all of the people who will shout “Hodor” at people when they want them to “hold the door” from now on.
It seems that particular phenomenon applies to the actor who played Hodor, Kristian Nairn, as well, as seen in a video from Yogcast CEO Turps. Turps filmed himself leaving a theater after a viewing of Warcraft. Afraid of missing the elevator, Turps calls out for someone to “hold the door.” As he gets closer it turns out that someone in Nairn himself.

Hodor has been the lovably innocent and large guardian of Bran Stark throughout most of Game of Thrones. He has only ever said the word “Hodor,” which most characters had assumed to be his name. A flashback in the Season 6 episode “Oathbreaker” revealed that Hodor’s actual name is Wylis and that he served as a stable boy at Winterfell.
“The Door” revealed that the name “Hodor” came from some a bad mix of time travel and warging on Bran’s part. When the Three-Eyed Raven’s came under attack by the White Walker, Meera Reed’s shout for present day Hodor to “hold the door” of the cave to allow her and Bran to escape rippled back in time via Bran’s vision and caused Wylis to convulse and begin shouting “hold the door,” which he eventually condensed into Hodor.
