Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has removed the use of live owls from its show.

The recognizable companion of Harry, named Hedwig, was originally being played by live trained barn owls, but unfortunately, an incident at a recent show has led to that being changed (via Yahoo). At a previous show, the owl did not return to its trainer, and instead flew out into the auditorium.

That led to a statement from the Producers, who said: "earlier this week the decision was made not to feature live owls in any aspect of the production moving forward."

While it's disappointing that the plan didn't work out, the good news is that the owls are perfectly fine, and according to the producers are being "expertly cared for" by their trainers and vets.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the last book in the series, and will center around Harry's youngest son Albus. You can read the official description for the official eighth chapter in the fan-favorite franchise below.

"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."
