If you’re a fan of either Kevin Smith or DC Comics’s Green Lantern titles, this video is for you.

Many fans already know that when Smith officiates weddings (he’s ordained as a minister through the Universal Life Church), he generally incorporates the Green Lantern oath in place of traditional vows.

The couple had requested that Smith marry him at his Nashville appearance last week, but missed meeting up with him on stage — so the pair and Smith got together the morning after his show to get married on a rainy Friday morning.

“Marriage is this sacred bond that starts with some magic words,” Smith says in the video.

The pair uploaded the video to their Keto Couch Potatoes YouTube channel.

The oath, a short piece of poetry recited by Green Lanterns as they charge their rings on a lantern-shaped “power battery,” takes on a special meaning for Green Lantern fans — especially following its lengthy absence from the comics in the ’90s when Kyle Rayner was the “last” Green Lantern for a while.

Last year at New York Comic Con, Smith officiated a wedding using vows selected by the bride and groom and taken from Game of Thrones (insert your own Red Wedding joke here). ComicBook.com was there for that one, which you can watch in full here.

Smith’s next film — Yoga Hosers, starring his daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp — is ready to start making the rounds with him, screening at college campuses around the country as Smith tours, soon.
