Kristen Stewart Is Down For A Female James Bond

Debate has ensued in recent months over whether James Bond could be anything other than a white male. Actor Idris Elba's name became a name tossed around following rumors of Daniel Craig's exit from the franchise which prompted divisive discussions amongst fans and filmmakers which later lead to conversations about whether or not Bond could ever be female.

In any case, the role most recently played by Craig through a four film run looks like it will be up for grabs soon.

Speaking to Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in promotion of their new Equals film, E! nominated Hoult for the role. “I think I’m a bit too young, to be honest,” the 26-year-old said, adding that Bond is usually in his “30s or 40s.”

“Yeah, but that’s getting a little stale,” Stewart chimed in, prompting the conversation to turn to her opinion of a female Bond. She's all for it, whether or not she were playing the role.

Stewart even has a storyline which could fit a female Bond into the mix organically, so listen up screenwriters. “You start off as the Bond girl and then you think it’s just the girlfriend and then you’re like, ‘She’s actually [Bond],’” she says. “In the trailer, it’s him and then [a] bait and switch.”

Stewart and Hoult's Equals hits theaters May 26.
