Parapsychologist Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) is back on the hunt for evil spirits as she prepares for her biggest battle yet in this first look at Insidious: Chapter 4.
Shaye returns to the franchise, marking her fourth appearance, in the terrifying horror series. This time around, she's joined by Grey's Anatomy star Tessa Farmer, as well as Bruce Davison and Josh Stewart.
Insidious debuted in 2010 and quickly gained acclaim from horror hounds, thanks to the atmospheric tone created by director James Wan. The director's talents proved so strong, he went on to direct hits like The Conjuring, Furious 7, and the upcoming Aquaman. This installment will be directed by Adam Robitel, who did the creepy and mysterious The Taking of Deborah Logan.
In an interview with Daily Dead about the latest chapter, Shaye says, “It takes place right after the end of Chapter 3 when she walks off with Specs and Tucker and they’re starting their company, Spectral Sightings, and they are now living at her home. They’re like her two sons, her two bad sons.”
The new film promises much more Elise, with Shaye revealing, "You meet my family, my mother, my father. We go back to my hometown, which is in New Mexico, and so that’s where this takes place and her quest to find the bad guy that’s been haunting her.”
Insidious: Chapter 4 lands in theaters October 20, 2017.
