Favreau has now dropped some major casting news for The Lion King: the lead role of Simba will be played by actor/rapper/comedian Donald Glover!

Glover continues to have a meteoric career rise, having jumped from TV stardom on Community to hip-hop stardom as Childish Gambino. In the past year, Glover got a major movie role playing a young Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars Han Solo Standalone movie, while behind the camera, his freshman TV series Atlanta won a Golden Globe Award. With this Disney movie role now under his belt (voicing one of the most iconic characters in the studio’s filmography), Glover’s career is headed to the next level!
