The new International Trailer for Disney's Moana has arrived, with familiar footage for fans who attended the Disney D23 Expo last year. The trailer shows a baby Moana who meets the Water for the first time. At the expo, Director Ron Clements explained the importance of this meeting.
"There is one other very important character we want to mention in this movie, the Pacific Ocean," Clements said. When they visited the South Pacific for research, they saw that the people there spoke of the ocean like "a person or a friend." They make the conversation between Moana and the Ocean a two-way process in the film, as demonstrated in the clip above, with the water acting playful with the little girl.
Moana stars Auli'i Cravalho as the titular character, with Dwayne Johnson as the god Maui. It comes from the directors of The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid, Ron Clements and John Musker, and features music by Opetaia Foa'i, Mark Mancina, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, a South Pacific star, a composer with The Lion King on his resume, and a current Broadway sensation to make the movie sing. It hits theaters November 23, 2016.
