As the trio marches into battle, Bill’s voice-over monolog describes what it is like to know the Doctor and to travel with him, and points out some of the contradictions that the Time Lord embodies.

The trailer ends with a tagline promising that Doctor Who Season 10 is “a time for heroes.”

Doctor Who Season 10 will be Capaldi’s final season as the Doctor. The time of the Twelfth Doctor will come to an end with the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Doctor Who Season 10 will also be the final season for showrunner Steven Moffat, who has steered the series since Season 5. He’ll be handing the reins over to Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall for Doctor Who Season 11.

Mackie is making her debut as Bill in Doctor Who Season 10. Whether she will join the new Doctor and the new showrunner in Doctor Who Season 11 remains unknown.

Doctor Who has been a science fiction staple for more than 50 years. Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor, the twelfth actor to play the mysterious lead role of the series. The Doctor is a Time Lord, a member of an alien race who mastered the use of time travel. Feeling the call to adventure, the Doctor left his home planet of Gallifrey to travel through space in time in his beloved vessel name for Time And Relative Dimension in Space, or the TARDIS.

The Doctor tends to travel with a human companion. Pearl Mackie’s Bill will be the latest, following the departure of Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Louise-Coleman, in Doctor Who Season 9.

With so many high-profile departures coming in Doctor Who Season 10, many fans are expecting quite a sendoff and hoping to see some favorite characters from past season return to give Moffat a proper goodbye. Time will tell if that turns out to be the case.

Doctor Who currently has a 3.55 out of 5 rating from ComicBook.com’s users. Let us know what you think of Doctor Who by giving the show a rating below.
