Pacific Rim: Uprising is currently filming in Australia and one fan just spotted star John Boyega looking like he dressed to cancel an apocalypse.
Pacific Rim: Uprising, formerly known as Pacific Rim Maelstrom, is the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 mecha vs. kaiju movie, which was produced by Legendary Pictures.
Steven S. DeKnight (Marvel's Daredevil) slides into the director's chair for the Pacific Rim sequel. He also co-wrote the script with Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder, and T.S. Nowlin, based on an original story by del Toro, who remains involved as a producer.
John Boyega, who became an international star after playing Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, plays the son of Stacker Pentecost, Idris Elba's character from the original Pacific Rim. While many assumed Boyega's character would be a Jaeger pilot, this photo seems to confirm it.
Check out the photo below.
Boyega will be joined by Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, and Jing Tian in Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. The cast also includes Levi Meaden, Adria Arjona, Rahart Adams. Karan Brar, Nick E. Tarabay, Ivanna Sakhno, Zhang Jin, Mackenyu, Shyrley Rodriguez, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying, and Qian Yongchen.
The original Pacific Rim earned $411 million worldwide, with $101 million of that coming domestically.
Pacific Rim: Uprising will open in theaters on Feb. 23, 2018.
