Comedian and actor Kevin Hart evidently only plans on sleeping if it's part of a movie script, as his Ride Along franchise with Ice Cube is getting a new sequel.

The original Ride Along and its sequel Ride Along 2 were both big hits for Universal, and the studio has no intention of letting that success go to waste. In an interview with The Wrap, director Tim Story revealed that a third sequel is in development, but it is still in the scriptwriting stage.

"We're writing the script right now, we're writing away and basically, I'm waiting to see some pages and we're excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world," he said. "I'm impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas."

Ride Along 2 was produced for $40 million and brought in over $90 million domestically. Worldwide the comedy scored over $124 million for the studio. Granted, it wasn't quite as successful as the first one, it was still quite profitable. The original Ride Along was produced for $25 million and ended up bringing in over $154 million worldwide.

Hart is in the midst of filming for his Jumanji sequel, which also stars Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, and is about to release his anticipated comedy film What Now? which opened in theaters today. As for Ice Cube, his next projects are the recently announced Humbug, which will reteam him with Tim Story, and the 2017 film Fist Fight, which also stars Christina Hendricks, Charlie Day, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Tracy Morgan, and Dennis Haysbert.
