The film stars two actors who should be familiar to fans of superhero television: Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor.

In ARQ, Amell and Taylor play a couple in a dystopian future. The couple finds themselves trapped in an apartment, surrounded by masked raiders, and stuck in a time loop while trying to protect a newly discovered energy source that could save the world.

Amell should be recognizable to fans of The Flash as the actor who played Ronnie Raymond, one-half of Firestorm. Taylor played Trish Walker on Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix.

The time-loop scenario in ARQ is likely to remind fans of Edge of Tomorrow, the time-jumping Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt film from 2014. What looks to set ARQ apart is the enclosed environment of the couple’s apartment, compared to the wide open battlefields where most of Edge of Tomorrow took place, and the human nature of the antagonists, a stark contrast to the alien monsters that Cruise and Blunt fought against.

ARQ will be Netflix’s 12th original film. Previous Netflix original movies include Beasts of No Nation, starring Idris Elba, Adam Sandler’s controversial The Ridiculous 6, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.

Amell has been branching out from his DC television in 2016. In March, he and cousin Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen on Arrow) crowdfunded and released the short film Code 8.

Jessica Jones Season 2 was ordered by Netflix in January. Taylor is expected to return.

ARQ releases on Netflix on Sept. 16, 2016.
