Jamie Dornan has been busy lately, and it seems as though he might be adding another film to his acting credits. According to Variety, Dornan is currently in talks to play the role of Will Scarlet in Lionsgate’s new film Robin Hood: Origins.

Director Otto Bathurst will be working with a Joby Harold script of the film that will be a re-telling of the years following Robin Hood’s return from the crusades. It will feature many of the classic characters, including Maid Marian and Little John.

Dornan will be playing Will Scarlet. In this version of the tale, Scarlet is the half-brother of Robin Hood and one of the many Merry Men that the titular character recruits to help steal from the rich and give to the poor. The Fifty Shades of Grey actor will be featured alongside Taron Egerton as Robin, Eve Hewson as Marian and Jamie Fox as little John.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are producing the film. The last Robin Hood major motion picture was back in 2010. Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood starred Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, but didn’t do that well in the box office.

Hopefully this new “origin” story will provide a fresh take on the classic tale. And now that Dornan is finished filming the Grey trilogy, he can start working on new projects.
